FOR F*CKS SAKE!!!
Three little teeny tiny words with so much behind them.
Three words with depth, meaning.
Three words that I accepted as part of my vocabulary in almost the same way as I accepted the fact that my next breath would come.
Three words. That sum up most of my life as a parent.
Three words. Uttered a million times a day all over the world.
Three words. That show in all its glory the following in myself.
My frustrations: ‘FFS this traffic is ruining my life’.
My impatience: ‘FFS can you just put your bloody shoes on?’
My lack of empathy: ‘FFS why can’t she just bloody understand what I am fecking saying to her?’
My lack of trust: ‘FFS I may as well do it myself because they will only mess it up!’
My judgemental self: ‘FFS what a fecking idiot'
My selfishness: ‘FFS why cant I just have some spaaaaaccceeeee!?’
My temper: ‘FFS how did he manage to screw that up?’
And my overall lack of mindfulness whenever I utter those three words.
But what I have found through Mindfulness and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), is that I am now aware of the three words and I can take a breath, take a step back from my FFS automatic response and observe what is FFSaking me off.
Its usually not the actual ‘thing’ that is happening right now that gets me For ffsaking so readily. It’s usually a build-up of little things, of not taking time, of not stopping, of speeding so fast my FFS-meter is red lining.
So now I take the hint. I FFS. I notice. I observe. I take note. I accept. I move on.
Then I promise myself to find the time, to stop, to slow down. To allow myself some space.
And then I follow through.
It doesn’t mean I’ll never utter FFS again. But it does mean I can chose more often than not when to use it.
Mindfulness and NLP gives you choice.
So if you found yourself rolling your eyes at this blog, uttering ‘FFS she is full of it’, then maybe take a moment to ponder why you reacted in this way.
If on the other hand you are muttering ‘FFS’ because you haven’t even been able to find the time to read this blog until now, then maybe, just maybe, it’s time to get a bit of Mindfulness in your life.
